Captain Nobody!

We are sure you have all heard of the chapter book we have been reading in class titled, Captain Nobody, by Dean Pitchford. The story was based around a little boy named Newt Newman who tries to make something of himself as a small, skinny high school boy. Throughout the book we see him grow and change into a hero! To celebrate our love for this book, we came to school dressed as 'homemade' superheroes. Each student came to school dressed as their very own superhero that they created from old clothes and items around the house. We enjoyed celebrating this book and being superheroes for the day!

Publishing Book Reviews

We began our Response to Literature writing genre a few weeks ago. For this genre, we decided to respond by creating book reviews. Over the course of a few weeks, we learned how to create an engaging beginning, a summary of our book, share our opinions, recommend our book to a certain audience, and close by charging our readers with a task. All of these lessons together helped to create a book review! On Friday, we celebrated our hard work with our second Publishing Party! All of our fabulous book reviews can be found hanging outside of our classroom. Come take peek! Also... check out our friend L's book review below:

Math Night!

Last night, school was in session for the parents!!
We met in our classroom, as a learning community, to discuss the important math strategies in which students will learn this school year. Packets of helpful information and tips were provided to assist the parents in understanding the new way of thinking and learning our students are experiencing. Thank you to those of you who were able to attend! Hopefully you now have a deeper understanding of what we are working toward in class, and are able to help push your student to the next level at home!
