Math Brawl

After working very hard on our Sunshine Math program all year long, our second graders finally participated in our annual Math Brawl! Three students from our class were chosen to participate and compete to be crowned Sunshine Math Champion. It was an exciting day for all of us! We are proud of Lily, Isaiah, and our second grade Sunshine Math Champion, Abby! We are proud of all of our students for their hard work as mathematicians this year! Math Fluency

We have been working very hard on fluency with basic addition facts in math workshop. Your child can use this website, XTRAMATH.COM, to help them master basic facts at home. This program is free and it helps with basic addition and subtraction facts. This week we will teach our students how to use the website and how to use their pin number. Check your child's planner this week for their sign in information. Look for the link in our Kid Websites on the right side of our blog. Have fun!

Boosterthon!

We have been participating in raising money through our school Boosterthon! The Boosterthon is a fundraiser and Fun Run, where we run laps to raise money. Over the last two weeks, our school has raised almost $40,000 in pledge money! Our classroom alone, raised almost $3,500 in pledge money. Today, we participated in the Fun Run. We ran laps, danced, ate popsicles, and celebrated our success! Check out these pictures from today's event!

Coins!

We have spent the last few weeks working with addition and subtraction in Math Workshop. Throughout this time, we have also been working on adding and subtracting amounts of money too! Our unit included identifying coins, making trades for different amounts, and solving story problems based around money. Check out this website that takes you on an adventure to teach you how coins are actually made. You can also explore coins from around the world. Have fun exploring!
